Hot-rolled carbon steel coils are made from slabs (mainly continuous casting billets), which are heated and made into strips by rough rolling units and finishing rolling units. The hot steel strip coming out of the last rolling mill of finishing rolling is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow, and is rolled into steel strip coils by the coiler. The cooled steel strip coils are then rolled into steel strip coils. After the straight coil is processed by head cutting, tail cutting, edge trimming and multi-pass straightening, flattening and other finishing lines, it is then cut into plates or re-rolled to become a hot-rolled carbon steel plate.

Cold-rolled carbon steel coil refers to a steel strip that is directly rolled into a certain thickness by rollers at normal temperature and rolled into a complete coil by a winder. Compared with hot-rolled carbon steel coils, cold-rolled carbon steel coils have a brighter surface and a higher degree of finish. Cold-rolled carbon steel plates are products made from hot-rolled carbon steel coils rolled at room temperature and below the recrystallization temperature.

● Hot-rolled steel coils refer to coils obtained by continuously heating, pressing and forming steel billets at high temperatures. Its main features are as follows:

After high-temperature heating and multi-pass pressing, the surface finish is high and there are no obvious oxide scales and defects.

Due to high-temperature processing, hot-rolled coil steel has strong plasticity and toughness.

Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Plate Coil

● Cold-rolled steel coils refer to coils obtained by rolling, stretching and cooling hot-rolled slabs at room temperature. Its main features are as follows:

(1) Good surface quality: 

After multiple passes of rolling and stretching, the surface finish is higher and there are no obvious oxide scales and defects.

(2) High dimensional accuracy: 

After repeated rolling, the thickness and width errors of cold-rolled coil steel are small, which can meet the needs of precision processing.

(3) Strong corrosion resistance: 

Cold-rolled coil steel has high corrosion resistance and is suitable for making products with high corrosion resistance requirements.

(4) Wide application: 

Cold-rolled coil steel can be used in electronics, electrical appliances, furniture and other industries, and also has important applications in some special fields such as aerospace.

Other Classification Methods of Carbon Steel Plate Coils:

(1) According to the purpose, carbon steel can be divided into three categories: carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel and free-cutting structural steel. Carbon structural steel is further divided into engineering construction steel and machine manufacturing structural steel;

(2) According to the smelting method, it can be divided into open-hearth steel and converter steel;

(3) According to the deoxidation method, it can be divided into boiling steel (F), killed steel (Z), semi-killed steel (b) and special killed steel (TZ);

(4) According to the carbon content, carbon steel can be divided into low carbon steel (WC ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (WC0.25%-0.6%) and high carbon steel (WC≥ 0.6%);

(5) According to the quality of steel, carbon steel can be divided into ordinary carbon steel (high phosphorus and sulfur content), high-quality carbon steel (low phosphorus and sulfur content), high-grade high-quality steel (lower phosphorus and sulfur content) and special high-quality steel.
